SSHHIP vs Moshi

SSHHIP is the minimal agent-oriented terminal: no vendor backend, out-of-band mux control, and a Command Dial so most of that work never needs the software keyboard. Moshi is the feature-maximal one, with a vendor service behind its notifications.

Control surface

Keyboardless control

The Command Dial is the whole control surface: multiplexer actions, common keys, pane focus, snippets, voice, and Send Image. The software keyboard appears only when you pick Keyboard.

Typing a long command still needs Keyboard or Voice. The full command palette remains one puck-tap away.

Where SSHHIP is different

Moshi is the feature-maximal agent-operations terminal with a vendor service behind its notifications. SSHHIP is the minimal one with nothing behind it.

  • Multiplexer controls ride a separate SSH exec channel
  • No SSHHIP account, relay, or cloud vault
  • Keyboardless control: Command Dial as the control surface for multiplexer actions, common keys, pane focus, snippets, voice, and Send Image. The keyboard appears only when you pick Keyboard.
  • 14.3 MB native download versus much larger category norms

The Command Dial is a taste-dependent interaction choice, not a universal win. Typing a long command still needs Keyboard or Voice. The full command palette remains one puck-tap away.

"Different" is not "better". If the rows in the other card matter more to you than the rows here, buy Moshi.

Where SSHHIP is worse

  • Moshi ships Mosh, so a session survives network switches. SSHHIP App Store builds reconnect instead.
  • Moshi has an agent kanban, a diff viewer, a repo file browser, and Pro-only automatic HTTP dev-server preview. SSHHIP has none of that.
  • Moshi pushes notifications and approvals to Live Activity, Dynamic Island, and Apple Watch. SSHHIP cannot tell you anything while it is closed - by design, because that would need a server.
  • Moshi also jumps directly to a tmux window or herdr tab, so SSHHIP is not the only client that takes multiplexers seriously.
  • Moshi runs on Android as well as iOS. SSHHIP is iPhone and iPad only.
  • Moshi has a free tier (including jump-host auth) and 573 terminal themes. SSHHIP has no free tier and four themes.
  • Moshi has 453 ratings at 4.72★. SSHHIP has 1 rating.

How this page is maintained

Moshi cells come from the vendor's own pages and from Apple's public lookup data on 2026-08-12. Where a capability could not be found on those pages, the cell says "Not documented" rather than "No" - absence of documentation is not proof of absence. The SSHHIP column is checked against repository source 1.20.1; the shipping App Store build is 1.21.1. Nothing here is a benchmark, and no cell is a quote from the vendor.

Re-verify before a purchase decision. Vendor pricing and feature sets move faster than this page does. Found a cell that is wrong or out of date? Tell me and it gets corrected.
